The area of convection (invest 93B) previously located near 20.6N 88.2E is now located near 21.0N 88.3E, approximately 90.0 nm south of kolkata. Enhanced infrared satellite imagery (EIR) depicts an asymmetric low-level circulation center (LLCC) with convection displaced far to the south. Environmental analysis revels marginally favorable conditions for development with low vertical wind shear (15 knots or less), good equatorward outflow aloft, and warm (28-29 c) sea surface temperatures offset by terrain interaction with eastern India. Global models depict invest 93B as a broad circulation with a northward track and making landfall within a 12-24 hour period.
Maximum sustained surface winds are estimated at 23 to 28 knots. Minimum sea level pressure is estimated to be near 993 mb. The potential for the development of a significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours remains medium.
