Educational Requirements To Become A Dental Hygienist
Anyone interested in becoming a dental hygienist must have a high school diploma or GED, and successfully complete the required college entrance exam. High school students interested in becoming a dental hygienist should take mathematics, chemistry and biology course during their high school career. University programs are typically a four year bachelor’s degree. The most common is an associate’s degree from a community college or technical college. Graduating at an associate’s degree level is adequate for employment in a private dental office. However, if you want a career in research, administration, teaching, or clinical practice, pursue a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree.
