02 August 2008
Dental assistant certification is done through the Dental Assisting National Board which is recognized across all of the United States. To be eligible to apply for the dental assistant certification examinations a prospective candidate needs to have completed a course from an accredited institution that offers a dental assisting program. In 2006 there were 269 such institutions across the country. The accreditation for these institutions is granted by the Commission on Dental Accreditation which is a part of the ADA or the American Dental Association.
