Sirius and XM have been striving to entice automobile manufacturers in providing, as an original feature, a satellite radio receiver. Some companies took them up on the offer. Preparations

05 July 2008

If you are planning on charting an mcse exam path to transition from Windows Server 2003 to the new windows Server 2008, know that you won’t have to take many exams to upgrade your certification.  In fact, you can do this by only taking and passing a single exam.  (If going from 2000 to 2003, you will need to pass two exams.)   Job skills are not the focal point of the transition exams – rather, it’s about the new technology more than anything else.  If you decide to register for certification exams, then you will be required to put up somewhere in the neighborhood of $125.  However, if you’re an employer looking to obtain tests for the certification of employees, you can do so at a volume discount.

Computer Equipment Salvage

01 July 2008

There are companies that have set themselves up specifically for computer equipment salvage. Old computer components are collected, secured and shipped to secured facility where they are destroyed. From both an environmental and regulatory standpoint having your old computers taken care of by one of these companies is the soundest business option. This process is the most environmentally friendly because materials (glass, plastic and metal) are re-processed for re-use by industry and nothing goes into landfill. The process is also certified with these companies issuing their customers with an authorized certificate of destruction. This helps companies maintain compliance with current privacy regulations.

Needing Information About Data Protection

28 June 2008

We have some sensitive files at work that we are concerned about falling into the wrong hands. We need some high quality data protection methods. I have tried looking on the internet but continue to merely just find pages referring to laws in the European Union or enterprise level solutions beyond what our current needs are. Has anyone had in experience with encrypting data or successfully storing it in a secure manner? Any comments would be much appreciated. On a completely different note, has anyone ever been able to find an exterminator who will show up on time? Inquiring minds want to know.

Spyware Entry Vectors Blocked By Anti-Spyware Software: Bundled Install

10 June 2008

One of the common and most widespread ways in which spyware spreads is by bundling itself to a seemingly legitimate program. Most of the spyware affections in the world have taken place following this particular injection vector. This is the reason that the developers of anti-spyware packages have laid special importance on the blocking of this spyware entry vector. The solutions are designed to do scans at the time any software package is being installed. This is to make sure that none of the known spyware signatures are active in the installation procedure. If there is a match, the anti-spyware promptly blocks it.

Wireless Broadband Notebook

28 May 2008

My shiny new wireless broadband notebook arrived today. I spent a lovely afternoon working at my local Starbucks. Yeah yeah, cliche I know, but it was so nice to get out of the house. I was beginning to look like the belly of a fish after all these days spent in my dungeon of an apartment.
I’m hoping that Wireless Internet Access For Your Laptop will go a long way toward saving my sanity. I go stir crazy if I’m trapped inside for too long, even at home.
I think my next “office” will be the local brew pub. Working on pub grub, Guinness in hand - sounds good to me.
