Best Big Screen Television from $500 to $10,000

08 July 2008

One of the first things to remember is that cost for best big screen television is not always a factor in determining which big screen television is the best. This might sound strange, but think about other purchases you have made in the past—sometimes the higher costs involved are for ‘extras’ that you may not need. A big screen television can run from as low as $500 to more than $10,000.

Saying that, price and size are important, but picture quality is really the most important item when making your final decision. Nothing would be worse than watching a blurry picture.

Walk around different stores and look at their big screen televisions. You will instantly see a difference in the quality of the pictures. Some have crisper clear pictures with beautiful colors. Other will be a bit blurry and the color may appear faded. You can really see the difference in the store when these big screen televisions are side by side.

What are the Disadvantages of Owning an LCOS Projection TV?

11 June 2008

As with any other type of projection TV, you will need to be very concerned about the lifespan of the bulb or lamp.  Unfortunately, even though the projection unit may be rated for several thousand hours of use, the display will get dimmer over time.  In many cases, consumers report that certain lcos projection tv models are virtually useless within two years.  Typically, by the time the screen loses 50% of its brightness, you will have to replace the lamp, or have it recharged.  Because projection TV's take advantage of fairly new technologies, the cost of these services can be very expensive.  You may also find that there are additional costs associated with shipping the unit to an appropriate repair center.

Blu-Ray Recording

22 January 2008

It’s getting easier and cheaper to get into Blu-Ray recording nowadays, which is great. I never seem to be able to catch my favorite HDTV broadcasts when they run.
I’ve been looking into hd dvd burners. They look like a good option for archiving high def video, which is just what I need. Plain old DVD doesn’t cut it any more.
I’ve narrowed down my search to Pioneer Hd Dvd Recorder, I think. I was worried about the whole Blu-Ray vs. HD DVD fight at first, but what with dual standard players coming out, I don’t think it will be a problem.
