Illegitimate lawyers, especially disability lawyer, and businesses will gladly take your money and then disappear never to be seen again and never having even attempted to deliver on their promises.  Legitimate immigration law firms obviously don't partake in this type of illegal activity because they are in business for the long-term to help immigrants. The problem is exacerbated by the fact the most immigrants are not familiar with the laws of the US and typically do not speak English as their first language.  But the thing that most works against them is their desperation to escape their current situation and live in the US.
